Pound Consolidates Above 50-Day EMA Amid Fears of Japanese Intervention

The British pound has been consolidating above its 50-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) as traders wait for news on potential Bank of Japan intervention. According to Christopher Lewis, a technical analyst at DailyForex, this market is seeing upward pressure but also faces the risk of intervention by the Bank of Japan.

While the British pound has been propelled higher against many currencies due to interest rate differentials, its behavior against the Japanese yen is unique. The 215 yen level has proven to be a significant support area, and traders are cautious about potential intervention by the Bank of Japan.

Lewis suggests keeping position sizes reasonable in yen-denominated pairs, with the exception of dollar/yen, which he believes is a good opportunity but in smaller quantities.
