Pound Gains Amid UK Inflation and US Data
The British Pound has gained strength as UK inflation reached its highest level in four months. This development keeps alive expectations of a Bank of England interest rate hike, which traders believe will occur at the December meeting.
Data from the US also weighed on the dollar, with lower-than-expected jobless claims and a bond buyback program announced by the Treasury. However, the dollar has recovered some ground in recent sessions.
The UK's inflation data showed that prices rose 1.4% year-over-year in July, exceeding economists' forecasts of a 1.3% increase.
UK Retail Sales for July and S&P Global Flash PMIs are scheduled to be released soon, with traders closely watching these releases for any signs of economic growth or contraction.
