Pound Holds Firm Against Dollar as Fed and BoE Policy Views Align

The British pound has shown resilience against the U.S. dollar in recent times, driven by a subtle alignment in monetary policy expectations from the Federal Reserve and the Bank of England.

While the Fed appears to be taking a less hawkish stance, the BoE has adopted a more hawkish tone after its recent bank meetings, creating a favorable environment for the pound.

This has led to an unwinding of the current GBP net spec short position, valued at $5.4 billion, which is expected to continue in the near term.

The technical perspective also suggests that the GBP/USD pair may maintain its upward trajectory, with resistance at 1.3505 and 1.3556, followed by a potential break above the early May highs in the mid-1.363 range.
