The British Pound held firm against the US Dollar at around 1.3640 as traders awaited speeches by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Iran's sanctions and Fed Chair Kevin Warsh at the Kansas City Fed Jackson Hole Symposium.

US Treasury Secretary Bessent warned in a Financial Times article that an economic D-Day is coming for Tehran, stating that countries linked to the regime could face retaliation from Washington.

In response, Iran said it would not export oil if the US continues its economic war.

The Pound's advance was capped by a 0.15% gain in the US Dollar Index (DXY), which tracks the buck's value against a basket of six currencies.
