Pound Holds Firm Ahead of BoE Signals and US Jobs Data
The British Pound held above 1.35 against the US Dollar in early Asian trading on Friday, supported by hawkish comments from BoE Chief Economist Huw Pill.
Pill stated that raising interest rates now would help reduce the probability of later needing to adopt a more forceful approach to control inflation, which has increased due to the Iran war.
The Bank of England's policymaker emphasized that this move need not be the start of a prolonged and aggressive series of increases.
