Pound Holds Ground Ahead of US Job Openings Data
The British Pound has remained steady near the 1.3420 level against the US Dollar as investors await the release of the US Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) data. The market is focused on this report, which could provide clues about the Federal Reserve's interest rate path.
The JOLTS report measures job vacancies, hires, and separations, and its results are closely watched by the Fed as a measure of labor market tightness. A cooling job market would reduce wage pressures and inflation, giving the Fed room to ease monetary policy.
According to consensus estimates, job openings are projected to decline to around 7.6 million in November, down from 7.7 million in October. If this figure is lower than expected, it could reinforce expectations of a rate cut in early 2026 and weaken the Dollar, boosting the Pound.
