The British pound has maintained its stability ahead of the highly anticipated US nonfarm payrolls report, due out later today. The dollar's strength in coming weeks may be influenced by this release, which could either boost or weaken the greenback.

Bank of England Chief Economist Huw Pill recently stated that a 'prompt but modest' interest rate hike would help prevent more aggressive action to combat inflation caused by the Iran war. However, markets currently expect the BoE to raise rates twice in the next six months.

UK markets showed little sign of stress despite geopolitical tensions rising between Argentina and the UK over the Falkland Islands. Argentine President Javier Milei has threatened to sanction oil companies drilling on the islands, escalating concerns with London.
