Pound Sterling Dips as Middle East Tensions Escalate

The British Pound (GBP) is experiencing a downturn to near 1.3500 against the US Dollar (USD), as ongoing tensions in the Middle East provide support for the safe-haven currency.

US-Iran escalations have led to increased trade attacks, with American forces striking Iranian targets and Tehran retaliating with operations targeting US interests in the region.

The Bank of England (BoE) Governor Andrew Bailey downplayed inflation threats, stating that the UK is not experiencing significant second-round effects. He added that he will continue to monitor the situation.

Analysts at UOB Group maintain a cautious stance on the Pound, reiterating their view that the GBP could edge lower and warning of downside risks persisting below 1.3600.
