Pound Sterling Weakened Ahead of Fed Decision
The Pound Sterling weakened against major currencies on Tuesday, slipping below $1.35 as UK payrolls fell by 26,000 in August.
A provisional figure from the Office for National Statistics showed unemployment held steady at 4.9% over the three months to July, while annual growth in total pay slowed to 3.9% from 4.2%, and regular wage growth remained unchanged at 3.5%.
The US Dollar, on the other hand, strengthened ahead of the Federal Reserve's decision on interest rates, with futures indicating a roughly 93% probability of an increase.
