Pound Surges to Three-Month High on Resilient UK Economy
The British Pound is experiencing a surge, reaching levels not seen in three months. The UK's economy has shown resilience in the face of global economic uncertainty, with GDP expanding by 0.4% between April and June. This growth was led by the services sector, which saw an increase of 0.3% in June alone.
The underlying core inflation rate remained steady at 2.6% for the 12 months to July, a reassuring sign that the economy has absorbed the price shocks caused by the war in Iran.
The Pound's strength is reflected in its trading against other major currencies. The GBP/USD pair is currently trading at $1.3554, up 0.14% on the day. Similarly, the GBP/INR pair is quoting at 129.81 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), a gain of 0.21%.
