Pound to Euro Flat as ECB Rate Hike Expectations Fail to Stir Markets
The Pound to Euro exchange rate traded within a narrow range on Thursday as investors digested the latest European Central Bank (ECB) meeting minutes.
The minutes confirmed expectations of another interest rate increase, but markets showed little reaction, with the GBP/EUR exchange rate remaining at around €1.1664.
The ECB policymakers indicated that further tightening could be necessary unless there is a significant improvement in the inflation outlook, but this did not shift investor positioning, as markets have already priced in a 25-basis-point increase for September.
The Pound also lacked momentum on Thursday due to the absence of significant UK economic releases.
