Supercars events may be getting shorter in the future, according to Triple Eight Race Engineering co-owner Tony Quinn. The comments come after the inaugural double-header event in New Zealand generated $21.4 million for the local economy.

The Taupo event was shortened to a two-day event due to bad weather, but still managed to bring in $7.9 million. Quinn said this was a positive number, although he noted that figures can sometimes be 'mixed up and embellished'.

Attendance at the Taupo event has been declining since its maiden visit in 2024, with numbers dropping from 67,411 to 51,454 before decreasing further to 29,562 this year.

Quinn believes that Supercars should consider having one-day events instead of three-day meetings. He cited the example of cricket, which was initially met with skepticism when John Cornell suggested playing test matches in a single day.
