Rand Paul Blames $2 Trillion Deficit for Inflation Driving Affordability Crisis

Senator Rand Paul has weighed in on the current affordability crisis in the US, stating that it's not an issue of cost-of-living but rather a problem of inflation. He attributed this to the federal deficit and Federal Reserve monetary policy.

Paul pointed out that the annual federal deficit is around $2 trillion, with the Fed buying roughly a third of that by printing new money. This expansion of the money supply can lead to a decrease in the value of each dollar.

'Every new dollar that's printed dilutes the value of the money in our pockets,' Paul wrote on X. He contrasted this with gold, saying its supply doesn't increase simply because Congress increases spending.
