Rand Steady Amid US Inflation Data Anticipation
The South African rand maintained its stability in early trade on Wednesday as investors exercised caution ahead of key US inflation data releases.
The dollar remained locked in a narrow trading range against major peers, with markets awaiting the publication of the US Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index for July at 1230 GMT.
This inflation gauge is closely watched by investors as it provides insight into the Fed's preferred measure of inflation.
In a statement, Adam Phillips from Umkhulu Treasury noted that the rand was benefiting from a lower dollar and steady commodity prices.
