The South African rand strengthened against major currencies, including the US dollar (USD), Euro (EUR), and British pound (GBP), on Wednesday as oil prices continued to fall.

The decline in global energy costs has eased inflation concerns, making emerging-market currencies more attractive to investors.

First National Bank's Stockbroking and Portfolio Management noted that the rand is trading at approximately R16.34 per dollar, R18.86 per euro, and R21.99 per pound.

The Brent crude price has dropped below $80 per barrel, putting pressure on global oil prices, which have been declining sharply over the past two sessions.
