RBA Commodity Index Dips to 15.4% YoY, Softening Global Demand Takes Hold
The Reserve Bank of Australia's Commodity Index has slipped to 15.4% year-on-year in July, down from 16.9% in June.
This moderation is largely driven by softening global demand for iron ore and coal, particularly from China, a major buyer of these commodities.
The index measures the prices of Australia's key exports, weighted by their importance to the economy, and a year-on-year decline indicates that commodity prices are rising at a slower pace compared to last year.
