RBA Maintains Rates, But Hike Option Remains Open
The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) maintained its current interest rate stance, leaving markets initially interpreting the accompanying statement as relatively dovish. However, Governor Bullock quickly pushed back against this view, revealing that policymakers debated both holding and hiking rates.
According to Rabobank strategist Elwin de Groot, the RBA hopes that previous tightening will prove sufficient. Nevertheless, RaboResearch remains unconvinced and continues to expect one more rate hike later this year.
