RBA Officials to Speak Ahead of Crucial Cash Rate Meeting
The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) is set to make key comments ahead of its upcoming cash rate meeting on September 29. The central bank's chief economist, Sarah Hunter, will participate in a fireside chat at a Regional Australia Institute summit in Canberra on Monday.
RBA governor Michele Bullock will appear before a parliamentary committee on Friday, with markets closely watching for any hints about future interest rates. Recent comments from RBA officials have left the door open to further hikes, following three rate increases this year.
Markets are currently pricing in a four-in-five chance of another 25 basis point rate hike on September 29. Westpac's economics team was one of the last big four banks to drop their call for no more rate hikes after RBA deputy governor Andrew Hauser's hawkish comments last week.
