RBC Earnings to Test Valuation Amid High Expectations
Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is set to release its third-quarter earnings on Thursday, with analysts expecting CAD $4.04 per share in revenue of CAD $18.07 billion.
This would mark a 3.6% sequential improvement from the prior quarter's CAD $3.90 per share and CAD $17.45 billion in revenue, while representing year-over-year growth of 5.2% and 6.4% respectively.
The bank's valuation is high, trading at 18.44 times trailing earnings after a nearly 50% rally over the past year. Analysts project 14.6% annual EPS expansion, with the bank having delivered 22.5% diluted EPS growth over the trailing twelve months alongside 13% revenue growth and 23% operating income expansion.
Investors are watching credit expenses closely as Canadian banks navigate concerns about mortgage quality amid a mortgage reset cycle that may become one of the defining economic events for the sector.
