RBC Surpasses Earnings Forecasts with Record Third-Quarter Results
Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has reported its third-quarter earnings, exceeding analyst forecasts. The bank's profit reached $6.0 billion for the quarter ended July 31, a significant increase of 11% from the same period last year.
Wealth management and capital markets were key drivers of RBC's success, with wealth management posting net income of $1,442 million, up 32% year-over-year, and capital markets reaching $1,544 million in net income, a 16% increase. These segments accounted for the majority of the quarter's earnings momentum.
Commercial banking also returned to form, with net income of $936 million, a 12% increase from last year, driven by average deposit volume growth and loan volume growth.
