RBC Unloads Moneris Stake for $2B, Issues €850M Floating-Rate Notes
Royal Bank of Canada (TSX:RY) has reached an agreement to sell its 50% stake in Moneris to Francisco Partners for approximately C$2B. This sale is expected to generate around C$1B for RBC, with the company anticipating a net gain of roughly C$475M after taxes.
The deal includes a long-term referral pact, which will likely provide additional revenue streams for Royal Bank of Canada in the future. The transaction is set to close in Q1 FY2027.
Furthermore, RBC has issued €850M floating-rate senior notes due Aug 2028 as part of its financing strategy. These notes were listed on the London Stock Exchange and are not registered in the U.S.
