RBI Names Shri Suman Ray as New Executive Director

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the appointment of Shri Suman Ray as its new Executive Director. The announcement was made on September 1, 2026. In his new role, Shri Ray will oversee two key departments: the Deposit Insurance & Credit Guarantee Corporation and Premises Department.

Shri Ray brings over three decades of experience to his new position at the RBI. His background is diverse, with expertise in currency management, financial inclusion, payment and settlement systems, consumer education and protection, and human resources.

Notably, Shri Ray previously served as Regional Director for Maharashtra, a state in Western India.
