RBNZ Forecasts 2.5% Economic Growth in 2027
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) released its Monetary Policy Statement for September 2026. According to Westpac, this report provides valuable insights into the central bank's views on the economy and monetary policy.
In a key finding, the RBNZ noted that economic growth is expected to be around 2.5% in 2027, slightly higher than its previous estimate of 2.3%. This growth is driven by an increase in business investment and consumer spending, which are both expected to rise due to low unemployment rates.
The RBNZ also highlighted the need for monetary policy to remain accommodative in order to support economic growth. It noted that interest rates may need to be adjusted in the future if inflationary pressures arise. However, it emphasized that this would depend on various factors, including global economic conditions and domestic inflation trends.
