Relm Insurance Expands into Asia Pacific with Timothy Powell at the Helm

Relm Insurance has strengthened its global leadership team by appointing Timothy Powell as Head of Asia Pacific and Global Head of Underwriting Performance. The appointment marks a significant expansion for the specialty insurance carrier, which plans to focus on emerging industries in the region.

Powell brings over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry to his new role, having held senior underwriting leadership positions at global insurers Everest and Zurich. He will be based in Sydney and lead Relm's expansion across Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, with opportunities in New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and mainland China.

Relm's expansion strategy in Asia Pacific mirrors its proven approach in other regions, focusing on innovative industries such as digital assets and web3, the space economy, fintech, the sharing economy, and alternative therapeutics. This focus addresses what the company views as an underserved market in Asia Pacific, where traditional insurers have been slow to develop capacity for cutting-edge technology risks.
