Revolut Enters Euro Stablecoin Market with EURR Launch
Revolut, Europe's most valuable fintech, has launched its own euro-pegged stablecoin called EURR. This move puts Revolut in a category long controlled by dollar tokens and comes just one week before it removes USDT from its European app entirely.
The launch is part of a phased rollout to select customers in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal. Regulatory filings show the public offer opened on August 20, and the token holds a one-to-one peg to the euro. Revolut distributes EURR through both its retail app and Revolut X, its standalone exchange.
The white paper lists Ethereum and Polygon as the launch networks, with support for Solana, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, Injective, TON, and Sui following later. Customers can also send EURR to compatible external wallets as liquidity builds. Importantly, Revolut applies no spread or fee on euro-to-EURR conversions.
Revolut brands and distributes EURR but does not issue the token itself. Bridge Building S.A., a Luxembourg-based company acquired by Stripe for $1.1 billion in February 2025, holds that role. The CSSF licenses Bridge as both an electronic money institution and a crypto-asset service provider.
The USDT exit created the opening for EURR's launch. Revolut stops supporting USDT across the EEA and Switzerland on August 31, with customers already unable to buy the token on July 6. Any leftover balance converts to home currency after the deadline passes.
