Revolut Secures French Banking Licence, Paving Way for European Expansion
Revolut has secured a full banking licence in France, marking a significant milestone in its European expansion. This comes as the fintech accelerates investment and recruitment across the region.
The licence was granted following a joint assessment by French regulator ACPR and the European Central Bank. Revolut has committed over €1bn to Western Europe, plans to hire more than 600 employees, and will open a new regional headquarters in Paris in 2027.
With more than 75 million customers globally, Revolut's largest and fastest-growing region is Western Europe, which accounts for about 30 million customers. The company's business banking platform is also one of the fastest-growing in Europe, serving hundreds of thousands of companies across the continent.
Nik Storonsky, founder and CEO of Revolut, said: 'This licence gives us the foundation to build the next generation of banking for more than 30 million customers across Western Europe.' He added that France is a leading financial hub with a robust regulatory framework, making it an ideal platform to accelerate Revolut's growth.
