Revolut Secures Full Banking Licence for Western European Expansion
Revolut, a fintech giant, has secured a full banking licence from the European Central Bank (ECB) and France's Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution. This represents a major milestone for the company as it expands its presence in Western Europe.
The decision was made after a comprehensive review by both the ECB and France's prudential regulator, with Revolut Bank S.A. being granted the licence to serve retail and business clients starting in France before expanding into other major European markets.
Revolut currently serves 30 million customers across Western Europe, with an additional eight million added in 2025 alone. The company has a global customer base exceeding 75 million people across 40 international markets.
As part of its expansion strategy, Revolut plans to invest more than €1 billion and hire over 600 people across its Western European markets to support operational growth.
