Revolut Secures Full French Banking Licence
Revolut has received a full French banking licence, marking a significant milestone for the online bank and solidifying its position as one of Europe's biggest retail banks. This achievement follows months of close collaboration with the European Central Bank (ECB) and the French prudential regulator (ACPR), which have helped Revolut build the right foundations for long-term growth in the region.
The licence will enable Revolut to serve customers in France, with plans to progressively expand across Western Europe. The company will begin by localising its products and services to better meet the needs of retail and business customers in each market.
Nik Storonsky, founder and CEO of Revolut, said that this licence gives them the foundation to build the next generation of banking for more than 30 million customers across Western Europe. He added that France has become a leading financial hub, supported by a dynamic financial ecosystem and a robust regulatory framework.
