Revolut Secures Second EU Banking License in France
Revolut has secured its second European banking license, this time in France. The company received the full license on Monday from the European Central Bank's Governing Council and France's Autorite de Controle Prudentiel et de Resolution. Revolut will start with customers in France before expanding to Germany, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain.
The French entity will operate alongside Revolut's existing Lithuanian bank, which serves the rest of the European Economic Area under a dual-hub structure. This setup allows Revolut to tailor its products to each market. The company has more than 75 million customers worldwide and runs CFD trading in 29 countries.
Revolut said it has committed over EUR 1 billion across Western Europe, with plans to hire more than 600 people in the region. The Paris headquarters will open in 2027. Revolut's CEO Beatrice Cossa-Dumurgier stated that 'our focus now turns to execution.'
