Revolut Unveils EURR, Its First Euro-Backed Stablecoin
Revolut has started rolling out its first euro-backed stablecoin, EURR. The fintech company, which has over 80 million retail customers worldwide and more than 16 million crypto users, is integrating the stablecoin into its retail app.
The rollout of EURR will begin with a select group of customers in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal. Stablecoins are digital assets that maintain a fixed value, usually pegged to a fiat currency. In this case, EURR is valued at €1.00 and backed by reserves held by Bridge Building S.A.
Revolut believes that stablecoins have the potential to support broader use cases across international transfers, business transactions, and settlement over time. As digital assets move closer to mainstream finance, stablecoins can facilitate seamless movement between fiat and crypto ecosystems.
