Revolut Unveils EURR Stablecoin Pegged to Euro
Revolut has launched its first stablecoin, EURR, which is pegged to the euro and can be used for value transfers between traditional currency, crypto, and external wallets within the Revolut app.
The new token is issued by Bridge Building, a Stripe company regulated by Luxembourg's CSSF, and offered through Revolut Digital Assets Europe under its own MiCA authorization from CySEC. This means that eligible customers can hold a euro-denominated balance onchain, move it between fiat and crypto, and send it to supported external wallets and blockchain networks.
The rollout begins on Ethereum and is currently limited to eligible account holders in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal. The company describes this as a phased testing approach with plans to widen access to more markets later this year. Stablecoins tied to other currencies are also already in development, suggesting that this is meant to be the first of several similar products rather than a standalone launch.
The token's value is designed to maintain a stable value of 1 euro and will be listed on Ethereum. The initial rollout has sparked interest among users outside the initial markets, with those interested being able to join a waitlist to get notified once broader availability opens.
