Ringgit Edges Higher Ahead of Central Bank Meetings
The Malaysian ringgit has opened higher against the US dollar as investors took a cautious stance ahead of this week's monetary policy meetings by the Federal Open Market Committee and the Bank of Japan.
This caution has led to reduced exposure in USD/MYR, resulting in short-term uncertainty and limited conviction in directional moves. The pair currently trades at RM4.0584 with a modest decline for the day, sitting below its key short- and medium-term moving averages but remaining above longer-term support levels.
Immediate support is identified at the Ichimoku Kijun level of RM4.0573, while momentum indicators show mixed signals: MACD signals strong buy momentum, whereas ADX suggests a sell; RSI stands at 41.8584, and CCI remains neutral.
The analysis forecasts that USD/MYR is likely to trade within a typical volatility band of RM4.0381 to RM4.0787 over the next several days, with a much higher likelihood of a downward move should immediate support fail.
