Ringgit Edges Up Against Dollar Ahead of FOMC Meeting
The Malaysian ringgit has opened higher against the US dollar ahead of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting scheduled for September 15-16, 2026. At 8am, the local currency edged up to 4.0630/4.0730 against the greenback from last Friday's close of 4.0685/4.0725.
According to Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd chief economist Afzanizam Rashid, market sentiment is cautious due to the upcoming FOMC meeting and the Bank of Japan's interest rate decision on September 18, which is also influencing market sentiment.
