Ringgit Forecasted to Trade between 4.07 and 4.09 Against US Dollar Next Week
The Malaysian ringgit is expected to trade between 4.07 and 4.09 against the US dollar next week, according to Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd's chief economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid.
This prediction comes as several key United States economic data releases are scheduled for release next week, including the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) indices and nonfarm payrolls. These indicators will shape market sentiment and provide insight into the Federal Reserve's interest rate outlook.
The possibility of a prolonged pause in US interest rates could support the ringgit next week, as hinted by Dr Mohd Afzanizam. He notes that while a September rate hike remains intact, the weaker-than-expected second-quarter 2026 US gross domestic product growth suggests a prolonged policy pause cannot be entirely ruled out.
