Ringgit Range-bound Ahead of Key US Economic Data
The Malaysian ringgit is forecasted to trade within a narrow range against the US dollar next week, influenced by upcoming key economic data releases from the United States. According to Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd chief economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid, several crucial indicators and labour market reports are scheduled for release in the coming week.
These include the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) indices, the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS), nonfarm payrolls, and the unemployment rate. The data is expected to shape market sentiment, particularly given the Federal Reserve's recent lack of clear forward guidance in its latest statement.
The ringgit is predicted to trade between 4.07 and 4.09 against the US dollar next week, based on market expectations. Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid highlighted that this data-heavy period will be crucial for investors and traders alike, as they navigate the implications of these releases on interest rate outlook.
