Ringgit Strengthens Against Greenback Amid Strong Q2 GDP Growth
The Malaysian ringgit opened higher against the US dollar on Monday, following strong second quarter GDP growth of 6.0 per cent.
Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd chief economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam said this is a positive sign for the economy and noted that geopolitical risk continues to exert upward pressure on crude oil prices, which will impact inflation.
The ringgit traded at 4.0830/0890 against the greenback from Friday's close of 4.0840/0885.
