Ringgit to Trade Narrow Range Next Week Amid US Interest Rate Uncertainty
The Malaysian ringgit is expected to trade within a narrow range against the US dollar next week, from RM4.07 to RM4.09.
This prediction comes from Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd's chief economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid, who cites investors' caution over the direction of US interest rates.
A key factor in this market sentiment is the upcoming release of the US Consumer Price Index (CPI) on August 12, 2026, with a consensus forecast of 3.4 per cent growth.
Additionally, investors will be monitoring Malaysia's second-quarter GDP data due on August 14, which is expected to match the advance estimate of 5.8 per cent growth.
