Ringgit's Mixed Performance Against Major Currencies
The ringgit ended Tuesday's session with mixed results against major currencies. While it weakened slightly against the US dollar, it gained ground against other major currencies such as the euro, Japanese yen, and British pound.
Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd chief economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid attributed the US dollar's resilience to strong economic data from the United States, which reinforced confidence in the strength of the US economy. He noted that the US Dollar Index surpassed the 100-point mark after the release of positive manufacturing data.
The ringgit appreciated against several regional currencies as well, including the Thai baht, Indonesian rupiah, Philippine peso, and Singapore dollar.
