Robust Spending Defies Rate Hike Concerns in Australia
Australia's consumer spending remains robust despite interest rate hikes this year and negative sentiment around the property market.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) released its household spending indicator for June, which showed a 0.8% increase in June and a 6.0% year-over-year growth.
This uptick in consumer spending has raised concerns among Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) officials, who remain concerned about the strength of consumer spending despite lower-than-expected trimmed-mean inflation last week.
