Romanian Leu Weakens Against Major Currencies: NBR Publishes New Exchange Rates
The National Bank of Romania (NBR) published its reference rates for September 11, 2026, reflecting changes in the value of several major currencies against the Romanian leu. The euro appreciated by 0.0020 lei to reach 5.2557 lei, while the US dollar rose by 0.0152 lei to 4.5316 lei. The pound sterling also increased, trading at 6.1216 lei after advancing by 0.0038 lei.
On the other hand, the Swiss franc fell by 0.0079 lei to 5.5628 lei, and the Hungarian forint declined in value, with the NBR setting a rate of 1.4426 lei for every 100 forints, down 0.0023 lei.
Compared to September 4, the euro has risen by 0.0033 lei, the dollar by 0.0117 lei, and the pound sterling by 0.0081 lei. The Swiss franc has fallen by 0.0204 lei over this period, while the forint has declined by 0.0038 lei.
