Rupee Appreciates Against Dollar Amid Global Market Shifts
The Pakistani rupee has gained some ground against the US dollar in recent days. On Thursday, it extended its marginal gains by appreciating 0.01% against the greenback, closing the day at 277.42. This marks a gain of Re. 0.03 compared to Wednesday's settlement price of 277.45.
Globally, market dynamics are shifting as the Japanese yen holds steady after a brief surge in the previous session. Traders suspect that government authorities drove this sudden increase, which has put pressure on the dollar ahead of a crucial US jobs report due soon.
The yen's recent strength against the dollar is being attributed to various factors, including wide interest rate differentials, fiscal worries, and spiking energy prices. This has left the greenback on the back foot, with the US dollar easing 0.04% to 99.56 against a basket of currencies.
Other major currencies are also showing movement in the broader market. The euro rose marginally to $1.1589, while sterling attempted a bounce from a three-week low and last bought at $1.3482. Meanwhile, oil prices edged lower due to uncertainty surrounding renewed military strikes between the US and Iran.
