Rupee Edges Higher Amid Oil Price Uncertainty
The Indian rupee opened at 94.39 per US dollar on Monday, September 7, after appreciating by 10 paise compared to Friday's close of 94.49.
This move comes despite rising crude oil prices and expectations of a possible US Federal Reserve rate hike, which typically puts pressure on emerging-market currencies like the rupee.
Traders attribute this gain in part to the Reserve Bank of India's continued presence in the foreign exchange market, which has helped limit the pressure on the rupee from higher oil prices and a stronger dollar outlook.
Oil prices remain a key risk for the Indian currency, with Brent crude rising to around $97 a barrel due to escalating tensions involving the US and Iran.
