Rupee Falls Amid US-Iran Tensions and Rising Oil Prices
The Indian rupee has fallen by 2 paise to 94.97 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday.
This decline is attributed to renewed US-Iran tensions, higher oil prices, and rising Treasury yields.
Anil Kumar Bhansali, Head of Treasury and Executive Director Finrex Treasury Advisors LLP, noted that the RBI is keeping a close eye on the rupee's fall due to the surge in Brent crude prices to $95 per barrel and the dollar index hovering around 99.70.
The dollar continues to benefit from its safe-haven status, while the increase in Brent crude prices has lifted expectations of a September Fed rate hike, providing additional support to the dollar.
