Rupee Gains Against Dollar as Greenback Weakens Overseas

The Indian rupee gained 2 paise to 95.43 against the US dollar in early trade on August 14, buoyed by a weaker greenback overseas.

The rupee opened at 95.39 and later slipped to trade at 95.43 against the American currency, up marginally from its previous closing level of 95.45.

Forex traders attributed the rupee's strength to a fall in US Treasury yields and lower inflation in the world's largest economy, as reflected by the dollar index trading 0.08% lower at 99.78.
