The Indian rupee made significant gains in early trade on Monday, rising by 28 paise to 96.25 against the US dollar.

This increase came as a result of sharp declines in crude oil prices and positive global sentiment following the easing of tensions between the US and Iran in West Asia.

The American currency index also retreated from its elevated level, while domestic equities saw a strong buying trend that supported the local currency further, according to forex traders.
