The Indian rupee depreciated by 11 paise to close at 95.55 against the U.S. dollar on August 27, 2026.

The depreciation was due to the strong American currency and weak domestic markets, according to forex traders.

Brent prices fell below $90 per barrel for the first time in several sessions, amid ongoing discussions between Iran and Oman regarding a temporary shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz.

Anindya Banerjee, Head of Commodity and Currency Research at Kotak Securities, stated that the rupee's story this month is driven by inflows from special swap facilities and FCNR(B) deposits.
