Rupee Rises 19 Paise Amid US Treasury's Bond Buyback Move
The Indian rupee opened higher against the US dollar on August 20, after the US Treasury's move to boost buybacks of longer-dated bonds. The dollar index declined to 98.80, causing the rupee to rise by 19 paise at 95.57 per dollar.
According to Finrex, the RBI was active in the market on Wednesday and could intervene at certain levels on Thursday as well, limiting the rupee's downside. However, the rupee remains vulnerable due to crude oil prices staying above $91 a barrel.
