Rupee Surges Against Dollar Amid Lower Oil Prices and Easing Tensions
The Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday, rising 35 paise to 95.64. This upward momentum was driven by lower crude oil prices and easing geopolitical tensions.
Forex traders pointed out that a weak US dollar index and positive equity market sentiment further boosted the Indian currency. The rupee had appreciated sharply by 54 paise on Monday, closing at 95.99 against the greenback.
The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading down 0.06% at 101.31. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, was also lower, trading at $87.10 per barrel in futures trade.
