Rupee Surges Against Dollar as Crude Prices Fall
The Indian rupee gained strength against the US dollar in early trade on August 1. This uptick is attributed to softer crude oil prices and an improvement in investor sentiment globally.
Currency traders noted that declining international oil prices have reduced concerns over India's import bill, while a weaker US dollar index has provided additional support to the domestic currency.
The positive trends in equity markets have also encouraged foreign investment flows, helping the rupee extend its gains. Market participants observed that easing geopolitical tensions in parts of West Asia have improved overall risk appetite, leading investors to increase exposure to emerging-market assets, including Indian equities and bonds.
