The Indian rupee strengthened by 13 paise to 95.63 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, driven by positive momentum in domestic equity markets and foreign capital inflows.

However, its gain was capped by a strong dollar index following the US Federal Reserve's decision to keep interest rates unchanged, according to forex traders.

The rupee opened at 95.59 and later traded at 95.63 against the greenback, marking a 13-paise rise from its previous close.

This comes after the rupee gained 6 paise to settle at 95.76 against the US dollar on Wednesday, following a 17-paise increase on Tuesday, which was fueled by a 74-paise gain in the previous two sessions.
